Choices...
We go through life make choices, we choose who are friends are and through that choice, we inevitably decide who we become as well. Some people affect us more than others and sometimes we make the mistake of getting too close to a person, the problem arises when we care about a person possibly a little more than we care about ourselves, it is at that time that we are faced with only two options, do we risk it all and go on instinct, or do we torment ourselves and decide to keep it all in?
We are selfish creatures by nature, nobody would help someone else if it didn’t make them feel better of themselves, it’s a shallow truth and might not be true of everyone, but they’re merely the exception that proves the rule. This is why we are so confused when we meet someone else that makes us feel so good about ourselves that we begin to care about their happiness more than we care about our own. Therefore something that once seemed innocent takes a more selfish route the more time and thought we give to it.
Sometimes, we have no choice but to hurt ourselves. To cut off ourselves until the moment that we can regroup and gain control of our emotions once more, is it really selfish to risk everything just so we don’t lose someone close?

Ur only caring about their happiness so they would keep on being friends with you .. D'oh ..
wow ! O_O
i totally understand what your talking about !
awesome post !
Veeery true!!
I experience the same feeling, and yes we r such selfish creatures! We want them to be happy, to satisfy our selves! But that still doesnt mean we aren't doing them something good even if we r actually doing it for our sake!
i guess its not really about caring for someone or helping someone who makes us feel good.
Its more to do with the fact that when we meet someone and are attracted to a certain trait of theirs, we subconsciously agree to like someone for a limited period of time, because we are looking for some sort of change in our present lives. No strings attached, no hard feelings..because you know and you agree that it will only be for a couple of days or weeks or months.
The trouble begins when we forget this subconscious agreement and begin to find fault in others behaviors and feel hurt and start complaining. We never realize that the fault isn't really theirs, its ours. We allowed ourselves the liberty to attach our lives with theirs and then we allowed ourselves to get too close. We forgot to break free when we had the time. We forgot to say NO.
So its not always that we are selfish and want something from every relationship we create..its more to do with the fact that we get weak or sometimes..act plain stupid.
But overall...i do agree with a lot of what you have to say :)
